Leo
Adam Sandler does a Disney
Leo (2023) was actually much better than I expected. The comedy was done very well, which was expected of an Adam Sandler film, but I was surprised by the quality of the humor.
They seemed to try and parody a Disney film in their style of demonstrating morals and plot/character driving songs. The songs threw off the beat of the film a little bit in my opinion, it was also hard to take them seriously.
The design style of the characters were interesting and what was especially notable was the design of the kindergarteners, which were quite terrifying. I did expect more from some of the characters however.
The direction was actually very interesting and different than expected. They set up the plot to go one way, and took a 180° and went a complete different direction. This was surprisingly not a bad thing, the direction they went seemed to be better than the direction they were about to go.
Overall, Leo (2023) was an enjoyable film and wasn’t a daunting animated disaster. Adam Sandler brought a solid mixture of Dreamworks style innuendos and Disney’s musical & moral nature to make a pretty decent film.
