No Hard Feelings
Aging like Milk
There was a exceptional performance from Andrew Barth Feldman, better than I had expected. I can see a good career for him in the future and I would be interested in seeing him in some more dramatic roles. But he definitely came out into Hollywood with a bang. He did a really good job with his visual comedy.
They balanced the aspects of comedy and romance very well. No Hard Feelings (2023) brings a modern feel to the rom-com genre and it delivered interestingly well, granted a few moments were cringy from the use of slang. They take a bold move by risking dating themselves for the sake of the comedy. This definitely worth it in the short run but in the long run will fail to age well.
The story was creative and that is always something I appreciate in a comedy. The underlying plot drivers were a little lacking, and the motivation, while clear, wasn’t very understandable which I will digress. The camera work had some interesting choices. Mainly in the sense of switching to hand held in times that didn’t seem to require it, or having some overly shaky shots that probably should’ve been redone or edited better.
Overall, this film definitely won’t age well, and the comedy won’t hold up for too long. For what it was, it was a very funny film. It was creative and very interesting.
