Renfield

Renfield: A PSA

Probably the first thing I noticed that seemed off to me was the gore. The blood was very opaque in most sequences and was you could tell was VFX real easily. While on the topic of violence, the action and fight sequences were done very well.

I think this is a very creative concept and set itself up for a lot of potential. And it fulfilled that very well, it served its purpose of a short lived and entertaining comedy. However, it was interesting to see that it also served almost as a PSA to those who are in an abusive relationship.

The Nick and Nick combo worked quite well together. I liked the dynamic between Nicholas Hoult and Nicholas Cage were done quite well, I liked their chemistry.

The comedic elements were hilarious, especially the vampire based comedy. Some small Easter eggs payed off greatly. The visual gags in Renfield were great.

Overall, Renfield won’t go down in history as any important film nor the best of any individual’s careers, but it seemed to send a nice message to a particular demographic as well as be entertaining at the same time.
