Tetris
The Red Snowball
Tetris is a snowball effect on steroids. I find it hard to believe that these events actually happened over a video game. The mixture of corruption in the wavering imbalance between Communism and Capitalism was greatly portrayed and a crazy to think about.
The pacing was hit or miss. The first 30 minutes or so were really slowly paced, but soon after it got much quicker and much more intense. The exposition felt like it was missing something. The film didn’t feel like it was properly introduced.
One of the best features of this film were the cut scenes. All 8-bit video game style cuts between scenes.
Taron Egerton puts on a fantastic performance. Oleg Stefan also has a notable performance throughout the film. Is it just me or does Toby Jones have an obsession with playing in roles with or as communists? (Captain America: The First Avenger (2011), Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023), and Tetris (2023)).
Overall, Tetris was a really good biopic and is one of the better ones I’ve seen. It out paces Air (2023) and Flamin’ Hot (2023), making it just that much more captivating. I do find it really interesting that Tetris is somewhat Communist in origin.
